Terms of Service
Last updated
nicesite is run by Lightn Ventures, LLC, a New York limited liability company (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use nicesite. Please read them; they’re short on purpose.
Agreeing to these terms
These terms cover nicesite.build, the editor, and the sites we host for you on nicesite.page or your own domain. By saving your site with your email, paying for a plan, or otherwise using nicesite, you agree to them.
Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data, and is part of this agreement.
Who can use nicesite
You need to be 13 or older, and old enough to make a binding agreement where you live. If you use nicesite for a business or someone else, you agree to these terms for them too.
You sign in with codes we email you, so anyone who can read your email can open your site. Keep your email account safe.
Your site is yours
You own the words, photos, and links you put on your site. You give us permission, worldwide and free of charge, to store, host, copy, render, back up, and show them, only so we can run nicesite for you: that includes showing your site to anyone once you publish it, and making its share image.
That permission ends when you delete your site, except for the copy we hold for up to 30 days so it can be restored if you ask.
You’re responsible for what your site says, including words our AI wrote that you kept. Make sure it’s true, and that you have the right to use every photo and word on it. Only paste links to your own profiles.
AI help
The editor uses AI to write and change your site. AI can get things wrong, so look your site over before you share it. How many AI messages you get each day depends on your plan, and the editor shows when you’ve run out.
What’s not allowed
Don’t use nicesite for any of this:
- Phishing, or asking for passwords, codes, or payment details while pretending to be someone else
- Malware, or links to it
- Pretending to be a person, a company, or nicesite
- Anything illegal, including any content that sexualises children
- Harassment, threats, or attacks on people for who they are
- Content that infringes someone’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights
- Spam, or helping someone send it
- Trying to break nicesite, overload it, or get around its limits and plans
We can take down a site or close an account that breaks these rules, without warning when people are at risk. If you think we got it wrong, write to abuse@nicesite.build.
Plans and payments
The free plan is free for as long as nicesite runs. Paid plans unlock more, as the pricing on nicesite.build shows:
- Monthly: $6 a month
- Yearly: $50 a year
- Lifetime: $250 once, forever, while we offer it
Prices are in US dollars. Sales tax may be added, depending on where you are. Stripe handles the payment.
Monthly and yearly plans renew on their own until you cancel. You can cancel any time from “manage billing”. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep paid features until the end of the time you’ve paid for. If we change a price, we’ll tell you before it applies to your next renewal.
The lifetime plan
Lifetime is one payment, with no end date and nothing to renew, for as long as nicesite runs. It includes everything paid plans include.
To keep it fair for everyone, after 40 AI messages in 24 hours, or 750 in total, AI help switches to a cheaper AI model. It keeps working; it may just be a little less clever.
Refunds
Payments aren’t refunded, including for domains, except where the law says they must be. Deleting your account ends a paid plan right away, without a refund.
If you stop paying
When a paid plan ends, your site moves to the free plan. Nothing is deleted:
- Your home page stays published
- Your other pages are hidden, but kept, so they come back if you pay again
- Everything else you made is kept
- The “made with nicesite” line comes back at the bottom
- A domain you connected keeps working
- You get the free plan’s daily AI messages
Domains
If you connect a domain you already have, it stays with the company you bought it from, and we show your site on it while it’s connected.
If you buy a domain through nicesite, it’s registered in your name and it’s yours. Domains aren’t refundable. If you delete your account, the domain stays registered to you for the rest of the time already paid for, and we’ll send you instructions for moving it to another company.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account, or your site if you never saved it with an email, from settings in the editor. Download everything first if you want a copy.
Deleting ends a paid plan right away (without a refund), takes your site offline, and frees its address. We keep a copy for up to 30 days so we can bring it back if you ask; after that it’s gone for good.
Reporting abuse or copyright
To report a site that breaks these terms, or uses your work without permission, email abuse@nicesite.build. For copyright, please include:
- The work you own, and the address of the nicesite page using it
- Your name, address, phone number, and email
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t allowed by you, your agent, or the law
- A statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or may act for its owner
- Your signature (typing your full name is fine)
If we removed something of yours and you think it was a mistake, send a counter-notice to abuse@nicesite.build with: what was removed and where it was, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake, your name, address, and phone number, your agreement to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or New York, if you’re outside the United States) and to accept legal papers from the person who complained, and your signature. Unless they tell us they’ve gone to court, we’ll put it back in 10 to 14 business days.
We close the accounts of people who infringe others’ rights again and again.
Our service
We work hard to keep nicesite running, but we provide it “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will always be up, that AI will be right, or that search engines will list your site. Keep your own copy with “download everything”.
We may change or stop features. If we ever shut nicesite down, we’ll tell you first and give you time to download everything.
Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data, or business. Our total liability to you for anything to do with nicesite is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts in New York, and you and we agree to their jurisdiction.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you by email or in the editor before the change takes effect, and update the date at the top. Using nicesite after that means you accept the new terms. You can stop using nicesite at any time.
